June Lornie
As a child June was known as 'Sizzy Lizzie". Other children used pencil and crayons but she would only use scissors - cutting
out the shapes she wanted – they ended up as the main tools of her trade. She worked for many years as a theatrical costumiere
making clothes for many Merseyside theatre and cabaret performers as well as TV and cabaret stars such as Les Dennis,
Bob Carolgees, Stuart Hall, Gary Glitter and even boxer Prince Naseem .
Allan Johnstone of Liverpool Exhaust Supplies with the sculptor Arthur Dooley opened the Liverpool Academy of Arts in 1988 where
June helped with the first few exhibitions and then took over the running of the gallery a year later.
She loves bright colours, textures, gold leaf, diamante etc. all of which go back to her Show Business experiences.
She adds acrylic and pastel to bring the works together in what she always calls pastiche.

Frank Hendry
Frank is a long-standing friend to the Liverpool Academy of Art and has exhibited several times in the Bluecoat,
opened on one occasion by the late Arthur Dooley.
He has concentrated several of his works on his personal experiences of the City and the Luftwaffe wartime bombing raids,
which caused destruction to the docks and shipping. Some of these are on display in this exhibition.
He was especially commissioned by an RAF bomber pilot, who was involved in the attack on the German pocket battleship in
St. Lazaire, in which he was shot down, baled out and made a prisoner of war.
Frank has exhibited in both the City’s cathedrals, and in many galleries in the North West and in Eire, his paintings being
distributed world-wide.
Stan Cummings
Formerly a practising glass-blower, Stan has painted and been interested in all things “art” all his life,
although as he say this was sadly interrupted by work.
As a glass-blower he sold his work all around Merseyside, and towards the end of his career his glass sculptures were taken
up by many visitors to Liverpool and are now in countries around the world.
Since his retirement he has been able to paint full time. The works on display in this exhibition are a response to a recent
visit to Canada and the landscape principally around Ontario.
