New Drawings and Paintings |

John is a gynaecologist who retired early in order to devote more time to painting. He has been drawing and painting since childhood but it was largely on hold during the doctoring years. Now he says he gets withdrawal symptoms when he is away from his studio.
Of his paintings he says:
“My pictures are mainly about colour, whether they be travelogue scenes, flowers or figure studies. I find that pastel is versatile enough to cope with all of these. I usually work on heavy rough Arches watercolour paper but tint it with a dilute oil paint/turpentine wash using a mix of ultramarine and raw umber. Pastel is my favourite medium but I have recently shifted into less figurative subjects in oil. The important bit for me is to keep learning.”
The exhibition will open Monday to Friday between 12 and 4.00 pm from Tuesday 24th October until Friday 3rd November. For details on how to get there see How to Find Us
