This exhibition is a fine collection of John Sutherst's latest works. In his own words:-
" I am a gynaecologist who retired early in order to devote more time to painting. I have been drawing and painting since childhood but it was largely on hold during the doctoring years. Now I get withdrawal symptoms when I am away from my studio.
My pictures are mainly about colour, whether they be landscapes, flowers or figure studies. Pastel is my favourite medium: I find that it is versatile enough to cope with all of these. But it is not easy to do large scale pictures in pastel. So I have recently shifted onto less figurative subjects in oil. The important bit for me is to keep learning because I missed out so many years."
He has works in private collections around the world and has had many solo and group exhibitions. John has a permanent exhibition at Bath Street Studios, Liverpool. …..and you can visit his website at: www.bathstreetstudios.com
