Abstract Works by the Liverpool WEA

These works are produced by members of a group which meets regularly in Liverpool to explore the kinds of images generally called abstract. The group meets under the auspices of the Workers Educational Association and is open to both beginners and those with more experience alike.

Tutor Judy Gough does not teach formal drawing techniques here but aims to provide the group with a basis from which each member can develop his or her own "Journey into the Invisible". The avenues explored during the group sessions depend a great deal on members own interests but are guided by investigations into three main areas of abstraction-

• The visible world around us.
• The search for visual equivalents of things which are not visible in themselves.
• The picture surface itself.
